3 Steps to Creating High-Converting Headlines

Headlines are the single most important part of any marketing document, 
be it an email, a sales letter, squeeze page or paid advertisement. That’s 
because the headline is your first and only opportunity to capture the 
attention of the prospective customer.

If your headline fails to make an instant, immediate impression upon your 
reader, they will stop reading further and probably are lost to you forever.

The best headlines – those that grasp your page visitor by the lapels, 
shake them up and refuse to let go – share three common traits.

If you ensure that your headlines always includes these three qualities, 
you can attract a greater number of prospects to spend more time with 
your copy and enhance your chances of converting them into a long-term 
customer, which is the ultimate objective of any marketing document.

Clarity Is King

The first and most important quality of any great headline is that it can be 
immediately understood by anybody who is reading it. The more clarity a 
headline has, the more appealing it will be to page visitors.

If your headline is in any way ambiguous, confusing, or doesn’t provide a 
clear and concise message that can be grasped instantly, it is going to 
turn readers away in droves. Clear, easy to understand headlines should 
be as specific as possible.

Remember, the people who are landing on your pages or seeing your ads 
are looking for solutions and answers. The last thing they want to do is to 
spend more time trying to figure out what is meant by an ambiguous or 
uncertain headline. Be as clear as you can possibly be.

Headlines Have Two Parts

The most effective headlines have two parts: The headline itself and the 
sub-headline, also known as the “sub-head”. One way to think of it is like 
this: The headline is the bait that gets the prospect in the door and the 
sub-head is what you use to hook them in so they will keep reading.

A clear and concise headline is critical, but by itself it usually is not 
enough to fully engage the reader. It needs help – in the form of a 
great, informative sub-head that boosts the clarity the reader gets from 
the headline.

The sub-head acts to reaffirm the reason why your reader has landed on 
your page or looked at your ad in the first place. It should set the stage 
for the story your content is about to tell them.

The Best Headlines Include Numbers

There is a whole body of research that proves that people using the 
Internet are astronomically more likely to click through on a headline that 
includes a number than one that simply includes words.

This has something to do with the way our minds are wired.

Numbers express certainty. They subconsciously tell the reader that there 
message expressed in the headline is based on substance and fact, so 
people seeking solutions or answers online are naturally more attracted 
to headlines that include numbers than they are to just words.

The numbers you put in your headlines can include all kinds of figures, 
including percentages, the amount of things on lists, time measurements, 
and so on:

Generally, the number will be in the main headline rather than the sub-
head. But the information in the sub-head should support whatever 
number you include in the headline.

These three qualities are so widely used that headlines that don’t include 
them are often perceived as jarring or off-putting – and usually fail to 
convert.

Successful marketers understand what works and what doesn’t, so they 
gravitate toward the tried and true in order to maximize their results.

If you keep your headlines clear and to the point, include sub-headlines 
that support the primary point of the main headline, and include numbers 
to give your headline substance and authority, you can exponentially 
increase your conversion rates regardless of what type of marketing 
document you are using.

I was just reading an article by former Survivor winner Austin McCarty,
and he gave some great tips on what it takes to win.

He said: “First it takes skill. You must be smart, socially adept, and able-
bodied to win. Then it takes the ability to harness those skills.

Any Survivor fan knows that countless capable contestants have seen
their torches snuffed due to poor thinking, massive social blunders,
and/or key physical failures. It is here that some contestants - but not
many - are eliminated.”

If you want to “survive” in your online business, there are three
important skills you need:

Skill #1: The Ability to Sell

The most important skill you need is the ability to sell. This skill is
number one. If you can’t sell, you're going to have a hard time
making any money online.

Most people don't like to sell. But this is a universal principle -
If you want to do well in business, you need to know how to sell.

To sell in business, you’re persuasively describing the benefits,
and talking them into paying you for your products and/or services.

Skill #2: The Ability to Write Sales Copy

Copywriting is the ability to communicate in writing and persuade
someone to take action.

You want to raise the awareness of your product to your target market,

to sell them.

Skill #3: Hire the Right People

There’s no way around it: Sex sells. It’s simply the way we are hard-wired 
as humans. We are attracted to anything that turns us on or stimulates 
our sexual curiosity.

Obviously, this is something that successful marketers have known about 
since the beginning of time – or at least the beginning of advertising. If 
you want to attract more visitors to your pages, look for ways to ratchet 
up the sex appeal – even if your subject matter doesn’t ordinarily lend 
itself to being sexualized.

Sexy images are also always a huge draw, especially when they are used 
tastefully. Consider what your core audience wants, then give it to them.

 He was very excited about the prospect of working with me and having me as his Personal Development Coach.

His question and what he wanted to know was what I charged for my coaching sessions.

This is how he frayed his question.  Mr. Fuller I am really into personal development, and I would really like for you to coach me.

However this really sounds expensive, how much will it cost me for your coaching services.

My response to him was it won’t cost you a single penny. The first thing I need you to do is to change your mindset.

You need to look at it as an investment, not as a cost.

When you invest in your personal development you are investing in you. Improving yourself should never be viewed as a cost: rather it’s an investment.

The Scroll Marked III - I Will Persist Until I Succeed!

How many of you have a favorite film that you have watched several times and it never becomes boring or monotonous?

There are classics that I would watch with my mother every year, especially during the Easter season. Some of these classics I couldn’t get at the video store, so I would go the library and borrow them, and then we could watch them for a week. This was a yearly event for us and the films never became boring or monotonous, year after year after year, I knew to get these classics so we could enjoy our special time together and share the  bonding experience that still inspire me to this day.

You see the classics never get old; they just seem to get better with age.

Just as I did with the films, there are also classic books that I read at least once a year. One of those books is by Og Mandino's, The Greatest Salesman in the World. I don’t just read this powerful book, I make it a yearly study. I make it a practice to read the 10 scrolls as outlined by Og, at least once a year.

Early on in my career as a young insurance unit manager, I was 21 at the time, one of my agents brought a copy of The Greatest Secret in the World to one of our private sessions and handed it to me. I couldn’t put it down. Og Mandino wrote The Greatest Salesman in the World, as a result of the response of his former work and to provide a personal development plan and discipline that would propel the reader's achievement and accomplishments to unbelievable proportions.

As a young salesman that wanted to the best, I was into personal development, I had already discovered Napoleon Hill, W. Clement Stone, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, Zig Ziglar and others, but when I was introduced to Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World, he was speaking directly to me.

Like Muhammad Ali, I wanted to be “The Greatest!” Please don’t get me wrong I am in no way comparing myself with “The Greatest” Muhammad Ali. It was my desire to become a great salesman, in fact I wanted to become The Greatest Salesman in the World.

For those of you who laugh and scoff at the previous sentence, I say, if you don’t have a desire to be the very best at what you do you are cheating yourself and your family, if you are married and have kids, and you are cheating the world of your extraordinary contributions if you are not committed to being the best.

As part of my personal development plan I read the 10 scrolls in The Greatest Salesman in the World every year as prescribed in the book on a daily basic. My daily reading for this month is, The Scroll Marked III “I Will Persist Until I Succeed!”

I have used this book to achieve extraordinary success in sales, management, and as an entrepreneur. If you have never read this classic I recommend you get it and make it a part of your personal development study. I gave it as a gift to my sales team several years ago, I had been reading from it in many of our meeting and I know the profound affect it had on me and I wanted to pass it forward. you can do as I did, you can find it on Amazon.

In keeping with my personal development plan and challenge to read at least one inspirational or personal development book per week, today I finished reading, The 3 Most Important Things In Your Life by Mike Murdock.

Mike Murdock is a very accomplished Minster, Song writer and the author of many books.

 A Letdown and Uplifting

Reading the last chapter of this book was both a letdown and uplifting. I felt somewhat emotionally letdown because I was quickly coming to the end, it’s always somewhat of letdown when I finish a good book.

However there was many golden nuggets in the last few pages of this book that will remain with me forever and I wanted to share them with you.

A Great Success Secret

“The Greatest Success Secret God Has Ever Taught Me.” This is the title of the chapter of this book and it is packed with Golden Nuggets.

This is what Mike Murdock wrote that really inspired me. “Some Years Ago Something Happened To Me That Literally Changed The Course of My Life.  

It revolutionized my ministry.

It transformed me.

It made me a whole different person.”

What was it that so profoundly affected Rev Murdock “God spoke to my heart…not aloud, but into my very spirit and innermost being. It was a simple sentence. But it struck me with the force of a sledge-hammer blow. It echoed and resounded inside my head and engraved itself on the walls oy my heart.”

What was the message?

“What You Make Happen For Others, I Will Make Happen For You.”

…Mike continues “If I make good things happen for others, God will make good things happen for me.”

”If you want to be a success…if you want to be fulfilled…concentrate on the success and fulfillment of others.”

 Wow! That’s Powerful!

Reading this impacted me in somewhat the same way Rev Murdock was impacted it when he received the message.

“What You Make Happen For Others, I Will Make Happen For You.”

“You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.” - Zig Ziglar

Many successful top producers and high achievers use personal coaches and mentors to assist them in every area of their lives. I use personal coaches. success or accomplishing your goals. I am at your service. That may not be grammatical correct, I just like saying it that way.

Are You In It To Win It…

When it comes to the way we pursue our goals, our dreams, our relationships, our finances, our business interests, or whatever else we do, just fill in the blank, a very important question come to mind. Are we in It to win it?

A few weeks ago I reread T. Harv Eker’s bestselling book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.

T. Harv has what he calls Wealth Files. In His Wealth File # 2 he asks the question, “If you were to play any sport or any game strictly on defense, what are your chances of your winning the game? Most people would agree, slim and none.”

This question was raised to highlight the message of the wealth file #2: Rich people play the money game to win. Poor people play the money game to not lose.

Winners Use Person Development To Help Them Achieve Greatness

In life as in sports there is a difference between winners and losers. Winners know that to achieve their very optimum level takes commitment, personal development, persistence, and the failure is not an option attitude.

Winners make the necessary sacrifices now to work on themselves, they execute their personal development plan, and they commit to a schedule and follow through with the necessary actions that will ensure that they achieve their desired result. Winners play to win..

Winners Are In It To Win It…And They WIN!

Winner adapt the words of  Sir Winston Churchill - “Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

Michael Jordan: “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying.”

Losers, well, we all know the cry of losers, I often think of the losers limp. The corner-back get beat on a deep touchdown pass, and he grabs his leg, it was the injury that caused him to get beat, not his lack of skill or speed.

You see losers would rather offer excuses, assign blame, they don’t want to accept responsibility, and it’s never their fault. Well they were only playing not to lose anyway; they were not playing to win!

I Couldn't Believe This ...He Said What?...

I attended a workshop a few weeks ago, there were several hundred people there
in attendance.

It was an excellent presentation on Real Estate Investing. I was very impressed the
presenter really brought it. He knew what he was talking about and he was very
good at delivering his message to his audience.

At the break I spoke with a guy who related that he wanted to start an online
business working from home, and wanting to produce a six figure yearly income.

I replied that's very fascinating, so how is that working out for you?

I couldn't believe his response....

As someone who lives and breathes personal development and that one should
consistently invests in themselves and their personal development I was totally
shocked.

He said, I investigated this one company, many of their affiliates that make six
figures, BUT, You want believe this, would you believe they are asking a $1,000
up front, that's the affiliate fee for the training, the tools and system they  provide
you, to get you started... Man that's a lot of money!

I had to excuse myself, I was about to burst out laughing, right in front of his face...

I couldn't believe he said that...

Here this man had spent 15 minutes telling me how serious he was about making
a six figure yearly income with an online business but wasn't resourceful enough
to find a mere $1,000 to invest in getting his six figure income business started

I just couldn't help myself as I walked away I began to laugh uncontrollably...
I couldn't believe this guy! I really couldn't believe he said that...

I actually felt sorry for him... sort of ...that was sad!

It's true every entrepreneur must invest capital in the form of money to get their
business started.

In the words of Multi-Billionaire Warren Buffett

"The best investment you can make is in yourself."

Before you get the wrong idea, I was not laughing at his financial situation, it was
just the fact that he wasn’t resourceful enough to find a way to get a $1000 to
pursue his dream.

Now, to me, that's sad!

And yes I am going to ask you to make an investment
in yourself to get started in a very lucrative business.

Are you serious about making a lucrative income online and get started
enjoying the lifestyle you desire and deserve. Don't cringe I'm not asking
for anything near $1,000.

I'm sorry, I sort of got off track yesterday, my personal development reading
I of Les Brown's book Law of Success inspired yesterday's post. We are back
on track with:

"My Mentor Had Me Sweating"

Let me ask you a question....

Are You Totally Committed to Achieving your Financial Freedom? Most who say
they seek financial independence would say to this question.

However, if you answered yes, stop and think, are you sure? I'm not so sure you
would make a bet on your answer after you read what follows.

Okay, let's get to it. I was talking to one of my mentors a few years ago and he
asked me a simple question that shook me to the core.

He stated, Stan, you are a very energetic, positive thinking, hardworking Coach
and entrepreneur, you have coached  several of salespeople to become million
dollar Producers. ... I know you have a great personal development plan and
that you have all of the tools you need.

As I was about interrupted him, I had no idea what was to follow, he looked at me
if I had stolen something. I knew I had made a mistake in trying to interrupt him.
Then he let me have it.

He asked. Mr. Fuller, Why haven't you achieved the Financial Freedom you desire?
He went on to say, as much as you talk about it, I would think you would have
make it happen by now.   

As I thought of how to reply to his question he stated, I am not trying to embarrass
you,  but as your mentor, it's my job to tell you like it is and not let you off the hook.

Then he said, I’ll tell you exactly why you haven't achieved your goal of being
Financial Independent, it's simple Stan, it's become you have not ,Totally Committed
to obtaining your Financial Independence.... Stan, it's as simple as that!

You have not total committed with the No Matter What....Attitude.

Ouch! That stung deeply. However as we exchanged a long respectful stair, I
realized my mentor was right. Come to think of it he was always right.

I know if I had totally committed to achieving that goal and made it a burning
desire definite major purpose,  it  would  have  been one of the  things on my
Bucket List  that I would have already accomplished.

Once I totally committed with the "No Matter What,“ mentality, my income and
business began to explode.

I began to attract World class people in every area of my life. Top Coaches, Top
Financial Specialist, Marketing Specialist, Relationship coaches, all willing to work
with me and help me take my life and business to the next level.

"When the student is ready the teacher will appear"

Bottom line If you want to achieve anything of great significant ...Become Totally
Committed... with the "No Matter What!"...Attitude!
