If you’re resting all your marketing ambitions on the hope that first-time visitors will
make a puchase, you’re going to have trouble making any money. Only about 1% of
visitors are ready to make a purchase during their first visit. On average, you’ll need
about 4 or 5 points of contact before getting a sale.

A lead magnet is designed to help you capture the email address of these visitors so that
you can direct them back to your sales funnel. They’re designed for the 99% of prospects
that leave your site without making a purchase.

So, if you want to gain these email addresses, you should take the time to create an
effective lead magnet.

Research Your Competitor’s Lead Magnets

First, you’ll need to look at your competitor’s lead magnets. Look at the offers that they
provide. You shouldn’t copy their offers. But, you can use your research to ensure that
you’re offering something original and more appealing than what your competition is

This research will give you a better sense of what your potential buyers want. Use this
information as you choose your offer. Generally, these offers will fall into one of these

  • PDF,
  • eBook, or downloadable guide
  • Webinars
  • Discounts or coupons

The medium that you choose for your offer will depend on your market. PDFs and other
readable content are useful when you don’t have a tangible product.

So, if you offer digital goods or services, your customers will expect digital offers.
Though, downloadable content can be applied to almost any industry.

When creating your offer, the medium is not nearly as important as the actual content.
Whether you film a video tutorial or put together a downloadable guide, you need to
choose a topic that your potential buyers are interested in.

Researching the Top Concerns of Your Potential Buyers


Researching the top concerns of your potential buyers will help you choose a topic for
your lead magnet. People want solutions. They want valuable information. You’ll provide
them with the answers or facts that they need.

There are several ways to learn more about the top concerns of your target demographic.
You can search forums and communities. Look at the questions that people ask most
frequently on these websites.

You can also look at social media comments. This includes comments on both your own
social media accounts and the accounts of your competition. Social media is the preferred
method of communication for most consumers.

A little bit of keyword research can also help you find a topic. See what keyword phrases
are searched for most frequently. Focus on keyword searches related to questions or

After you’ve researched the top concerns of your potential buyers, you’ll have a topic to
discuss. Make this topic the focus of your free content. Then, this content together in a
PDF, video, or webinar.

Create a Killer Title and Sub-title


Once you have an offer, the rest is easy. You just need a great title and sub-title. Be
specific and keep your title simple. Address the problem or concern that you promise
to solve in your free content.

The sub-title follows up on this promise by telling visitors what they’ll find on this page.
Make it obvious to your visitors what they’re about to read.

This same tip applies to the rest of your web page. Keep the content simple and direct.
You need to stick to the point. The entire goal of the page is to get visitors to sign up to
your email list by offering free content. Make sure that they understand exactly what
they’re about to sign up for.

Customer retention is one of the most important metrics used to calculate the effectiveness of your marketing strategy. The reason is simple. It costs more to acquire a new customer than keep an existing customer.

You can’t rely solely on new business. Otherwise, you’ll never grow your business. Use these simple steps to help increase your customer retention rates.

Give Your Customers More Than They Expect

The first way to increase customer retention rates is by giving your customers more than they expect. Deliver more than you initially promised. For example, you could include a free bonus or deliver your product or service ahead of schedule.

Consider the expectations that your customers have. This includes the quality of the product or service, the delivery, and additional features. If you can improve one of these areas without increasing your costs, then you’ll be able to give your customers more than they expect.

Establish Trust with Your Customers

Follow These Email Marketing Tips to Get Your Emails Delivered and Read

Email marketing can be a very effective way of bringing new customers into your sales funnel. But due to the widespread use of viruses and malware, most people are cautious about opening an email that comes from a source they don’t recognize, that is strangely written, or appears to have come from a non-English speaker.

You can reassure your prospective customers that the emails you send are safe and reliable by following a few simple email marketing etiquette rules:

  1. Don’t Sensationalize the Headline

The default setting for Yahoo, AOL, Gmail, and the other popular email providers is to show who the sender is and the headline. In some instances, the first few words of the email text itself will appear on the user’s email queue.

That makes the headline the first important element of your email. If it is overly exaggerated, makes extraordinary claims, or is otherwise sensational, there’s a better chance that the email will either be sent directly to the “Spam” folder or deleted by the user without being read.

The objective is to get the reader to open the email, so your headline has to give them a reason to do so. You want to capture their imagination and engage their interest, but not go over the top. Avoid using exclamation points – especially multiple exclamation points – as well as ALL CAPS and crazy colors because this will most likely tag your email as spam.

  1. Use the Person’s Name, If Known

The greeting is the first thing the reader will see when they open your email. If you know the user’s name (because you either know them personally, they are already on your list, or their name was included on an email list you have purchased) use your autoresponder to insert their first name in the greeting, such as “Dear Paul” or “Dear Sandra.”

Email tends to be less formal than traditional letter-writing, so in most cases using the person’s first name is perfectly acceptable. Using the person’s last name can often seem off-putting, such as “Dear Mr. Stewart” or “Dear Ms. Simpson.” Exceptions would include formal titles such as “Doctor,” “Professor,” or a military title.


  1. Get to the Point

Because emails are less formalized than traditional letter-writing, and because people get so many emails every day, the person receiving your email probably isn’t going to give it much attention. That’s why it is critically important that you get to the point of your email right away, starting with the very first sentence.

In email writing, you have to give the reader a reason to keep reading. Don’t waste time by beating around the bush or trying to build up to your point slowly. You have only a few moments to maintain the reader’s attention, so make the most of it.

  1. Signing Off

Another difference between traditional letter writing and emails is the sign-off. You don’t have to include a formal “Sincerely” or “Gratefully yours.”

Simply ending with your name is perfectly acceptable. Or, if you prefer, you can use an informal phrase such as “Chat with you soon” or “Cheers.”

Following these general email etiquette protocols will increase the chances that the person receiving your email will open it and read it. Make sure the content of your email pushes the person to the action that you want them to perform, such as clicking on a link included in the body of your email.

And I know that in most cases, you get some ridiculously over-the-top promise in the video, only to be asked at the end to take out your credit card and buy something.

I attended a personal development online seminar last week and one of my associates asked the question.

“What is the best way to keep my prospects engaged who has registered to an event that I am promoting on Facebook, whether it’s a webinar or live event, how do you build their interest to the point that they show up?”

If you are promoting your company’s live events, online webinars or seminars, here’s an interesting statistic you should know…

Only about one-third of the people who sign up will actually show up to the event. And only about 20% of your Facebook prospects will come on average. It doesn't matter whether it a live event or webinar.

So what’s the best way to engage your new prospect to get them to come to the event, attend the webinar or seminar?

Well… I’m glad you asked…

If you want more of your prospects to actually show up, you need to do the little extra things to connect with them, because it makes all the difference in the world. 

For example, you could send them a text message saying, “ Hi ____________  , just confirming the webinar link and time, there are limited seats so lock your seat(s) now by going to;­­­­­­­­­­­­­­_________________ ,  or ,"Hey, just confirming, your live event is here. It's at this time. See you there."

Or you could send them an email every day leading up to the event, whether it is a live event or online.  I even call my prospects the day before just as a friendly reminder.

There are many proven ways to get your prospects, business partners and associates to come to your live or online events.

These are just a few strategies I recommend, I am sure you can think of many more once you really concentrate and do a little imaginative thinking

The Scroll Marked III - I Will Persist Until I Succeed!

How many of you have a favorite film that you have watched several times and it never becomes boring or monotonous?

There are classics that I would watch with my mother every year, especially during the Easter season. Some of these classics I couldn’t get at the video store, so I would go the library and borrow them, and then we could watch them for a week. This was a yearly event for us and the films never became boring or monotonous, year after year after year, I knew to get these classics so we could enjoy our special time together and share the  bonding experience that still inspire me to this day.

You see the classics never get old; they just seem to get better with age.

Just as I did with the films, there are also classic books that I read at least once a year. One of those books is by Og Mandino's, The Greatest Salesman in the World. I don’t just read this powerful book, I make it a yearly study. I make it a practice to read the 10 scrolls as outlined by Og, at least once a year.

Early on in my career as a young insurance unit manager, I was 21 at the time, one of my agents brought a copy of The Greatest Secret in the World to one of our private sessions and handed it to me. I couldn’t put it down. Og Mandino wrote The Greatest Salesman in the World, as a result of the response of his former work and to provide a personal development plan and discipline that would propel the reader's achievement and accomplishments to unbelievable proportions.

As a young salesman that wanted to the best, I was into personal development, I had already discovered Napoleon Hill, W. Clement Stone, Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, Zig Ziglar and others, but when I was introduced to Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World, he was speaking directly to me.

Like Muhammad Ali, I wanted to be “The Greatest!” Please don’t get me wrong I am in no way comparing myself with “The Greatest” Muhammad Ali. It was my desire to become a great salesman, in fact I wanted to become The Greatest Salesman in the World.

For those of you who laugh and scoff at the previous sentence, I say, if you don’t have a desire to be the very best at what you do you are cheating yourself and your family, if you are married and have kids, and you are cheating the world of your extraordinary contributions if you are not committed to being the best.

As part of my personal development plan I read the 10 scrolls in The Greatest Salesman in the World every year as prescribed in the book on a daily basic. My daily reading for this month is, The Scroll Marked III “I Will Persist Until I Succeed!”

I have used this book to achieve extraordinary success in sales, management, and as an entrepreneur. If you have never read this classic I recommend you get it and make it a part of your personal development study. I gave it as a gift to my sales team several years ago, I had been reading from it in many of our meeting and I know the profound affect it had on me and I wanted to pass it forward. you can do as I did, you can find it on Amazon.

In keeping with my personal development plan and challenge to read at least one inspirational or personal development book per week, today I finished reading, The 3 Most Important Things In Your Life by Mike Murdock.

Mike Murdock is a very accomplished Minster, Song writer and the author of many books.

 A Letdown and Uplifting

Reading the last chapter of this book was both a letdown and uplifting. I felt somewhat emotionally letdown because I was quickly coming to the end, it’s always somewhat of letdown when I finish a good book.

However there was many golden nuggets in the last few pages of this book that will remain with me forever and I wanted to share them with you.

A Great Success Secret

“The Greatest Success Secret God Has Ever Taught Me.” This is the title of the chapter of this book and it is packed with Golden Nuggets.

This is what Mike Murdock wrote that really inspired me. “Some Years Ago Something Happened To Me That Literally Changed The Course of My Life.  

It revolutionized my ministry.

It transformed me.

It made me a whole different person.”

What was it that so profoundly affected Rev Murdock “God spoke to my heart…not aloud, but into my very spirit and innermost being. It was a simple sentence. But it struck me with the force of a sledge-hammer blow. It echoed and resounded inside my head and engraved itself on the walls oy my heart.”

What was the message?

“What You Make Happen For Others, I Will Make Happen For You.”

…Mike continues “If I make good things happen for others, God will make good things happen for me.”

”If you want to be a success…if you want to be fulfilled…concentrate on the success and fulfillment of others.”

 Wow! That’s Powerful!

Reading this impacted me in somewhat the same way Rev Murdock was impacted it when he received the message.

A few weeks ago I reread T. Harv Eker’s bestselling book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind.

T. Harv has what he calls Wealth Files. In His Wealth File # 2 he asks the question, “If you were to play any sport or any game strictly on defense, what are your chances of your winning the game? Most people would agree, slim and none.”

This question was raised to highlight the message of the wealth file #2: Rich people play the money game to win. Poor people play the money game to not lose.

Winners Use Person Development To Help Them Achieve Greatness

In life as in sports there is a difference between winners and losers. Winners know that to achieve their very optimum level takes commitment, personal development, persistence, and the failure is not an option attitude.

Winners make the necessary sacrifices now to work on themselves, they execute their personal development plan, and they commit to a schedule and follow through with the necessary actions that will ensure that they achieve their desired result. Winners play to win..

Winners Are In It To Win It…And They WIN!

Winner adapt the words of  Sir Winston Churchill - “Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

Losers, well, we all know the cry of losers, I often think of the losers limp. The corner-back get beat on a deep touchdown pass, and he grabs his leg, it was the injury that caused him to get beat, not his lack of skill or speed.

You see losers would rather offer excuses, assign blame, they don’t want to accept responsibility, and it’s never their fault. Well they were only playing not to lose anyway; they were not playing to win!

My Personal Development Reading Challenge

In my pursuit of becoming the very best me, I can be. I have committed to reading one new book per week.

These are books that will enhance my personal development, my businesses  or in some way help me to achieve my goals, my vision, my mission, or what I refer to as my God created purpose.

How I Stay Ahead Of The Game

So far, since I began my challenge four weeks ago, I am ahead of the game. Let me explain, I subscribed to Amazon’s Audible, therefore I order books in both forms, the book itself and the Audio-book.

I listen to the audio-books as I complete my three and a half mile walk every day. Also my wife bought me a Tap for Father’s day and Alexa’s reads to me for hours, every day. If you are not familiar with the Tap, check it out, this is one of the most useful gadgets I have ever owned.

Why I Accepted a Challenge From Les Brown

So now you see how I can easily meet my challenge, however I still read the books, I Just accepted a challenge from Les Brown to read at least 30 pages a day for the next three weeks. His challenge is it must be 21days. “Don’t skip a day, and you don’t make excuses. If you do, go back to Day One.”

This is what Les has to say about his habit of reading 30 pages a day. ”41 years ago, I made a promise to myself to read 30 pages a day. It’s one of the simplest commitments I’ve ever made and it has created unbelievable results for my life.”

I say if it works for Les Brown, I believe in following in the footsteps of Giants, it will work for YOU and me. I must admit I have had to start my 30 days over, However I will complete this challenge successfully. I will persist until I succeed. 30 pages a day, 21 days, I got this!
